Toxicity of Tumblr and Yaoi
So, some strange reason, someone contacted me on Tumblr and asked me if I would support their little gay shipping because they have a gay sona. I told the person that they are free to do whatever they want, they don't need me to tell them otherwise.
But then I said I'm not a fan of yaoi.
Probably should have left that out, but I thought I was dealing with a reasonable person who understood that people are all different and one person's favorite thing to gush about may not be something another person likes. One of the arguments slash and yaoi fangirls tend to use on us is if we hate yaoi the genre, that makes us homophobic.
Well, I know plenty of gay men who don't like yaoi because it's not a genre that is actually written for them.
It really isn't. Yaoi itself is not aimed at gay men, it is a genre that is geared towards heterosexual, teenage girls primarily. And it usually involves straight men having a same sex relationship for the purpose to make the girls squee. Because for some strange reason, teenage girls these days find two men who are cute, and want to ship them together.

Why we don't like Yaoi
So, a lot of the yaoi fangirls are coming here to attack people, calling us horrible for not liking their fetish. I mean, how dare we have an opinion on something, right?
You like Yaoi, that's fine, but there are those of us who do not. So, I found a posting that pulls out some bullet points as to why we aren't fans of the genre. I hope this settles it once and for all.
Yaoi fetishizes and objectifies gay men, and is often claimed to be a genre only for women. Female fans often dismiss male fans, and/or express anger over objection to ways that gay men are portrayed with a flippant "Well, it's not for you anyway!"

Also, I noticed someone trying to submit a yaoi image into an anti-yaoi group.
Please bear in mind that we are an anti-yaoi group. We don't like the yaoi genre. Submitting an image that favors yaoi kinda goes against what we are standing for.
If you like yaoi, that's fine. There are plenty of groups that cater to it. We're just one that doesn't.
